Realistic films are in. Real-life incidents are inspiration. The infamous 1992’s Babri Masjid massacre which shook the whole nation is now being made into a movie. And the one who is going to transform the real story into reel story is none other than Smita Thackeray, daughter-in-law of Balasaheb Thackeray and who had close brush with grave situation.

Titled ‘Babri’, initially Smita had planned to rope in Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan as the protagonist. But since he already had Reema Kagti and Yash Chopra’s movies in hand, Aamir said to have kindly refused. “But he has been a great support and he really motivated me,” recalled Smita.

And now she has decided that the next best character for the role is Ajay Devgn. Hopingly Smita said, “I have immense respect for him as an actor and he is the one who can do justice to the role. I am keeping my fingers crossed to do the film when I approach him.”

Talking about the project, the producer said this is a subject which she had in mind for a considerable time. She wants to put in her own views in the film but in a cinema format with cinematic liberties. Also, Smita feels that the entire issue has been over politicised and coming from a political family, she is keen to present it from a common man's point of view. “After a lot of work, I have been able to put my final thoughts and the script is ready," the producer quoted to sources.
